My name is Florence Chirichiello and I have loved working in the field of Social Work for the past 24 years, My passion is working with children and families. I had had the honor of working with very diverse populations in NY and NJ in helping clients to overcome many challenges. I have worked with individuals coping with traumatic brain injuries, developmental disabilities, psychiatric diagnoses, home and community based interventions for children with severe emotional disturbances, preventive case work for families involved with CPS, medical social work, crisis prevention and school counseling.
I am a happily married wife and mother of 2 boys. In my spare time, I enjoy listening to music, dancing, volunteering, spending time outdoors, and being creative.
As a School Counselor/ School Social Worker, I enjoy working closely with children and their family units from a strengths perspective in which I am able to take all factors into account as they affect each child. These factors may include cultural and religious values, family values, family dynamics, coping skills, adverse childhood experiences (ACE's), support systems, strengths, weaknesses, academics, social and emotional intelligence, and so forth. It is important to get the full picture in order to perform an accurate assessment and develop a tangible treatment plan.
I feel that it is important to get down to the level of my clients to meet them at their level to develop a trusting and safe therapeutic relationship with my clients. I use both traditional approaches such as CBT and creative interventions tailored to the needs of my client. You determine the pace and comfort level throughout our sessions.
I look forward to working together to provide support as you navigate any difficulties in life and to help you to develop stronger and healthier coping skills to overcome those obstacles.
